A Sunday of celebration for Ferrari enthusiasts!

Sunday 12 May 2019 was an unexpected Sunday of celebration for Brandoli and for all fans of the Ferrari Dino!

The “Sulle strade del Mito” (“Following the path of a Legend”) meeting organised by Club Dino Italia underwent some changes due to the interminable rain, but that didn’t stop 15 Dino drivers who arrived on time in Piazza Roma in Castelvetro di Modena.

The guests of honour of the Club on this day were our Egidio Brandoli and Oscar Scaglietti, son of the coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti.

Their presence gave rise to many questions about their experience in Scaglietti, especially relating to when Egidio worked on the Dinos produced in the 1960s and the early 1970s.

“I wasn’t expecting this turn of events”, Egidio said with his characteristic discretion. “Taking part in this Dino meeting has been an unforgettable experience. I’ve restored many of them over the years and, honestly, I’ve never bothered to count them: but I can assure you that I can recognise them with my eyes shut! It remains one of my favourite models: it’s complex, and complexity intrigues me.

During the Meeting, the dining hall of the Tre Valli restaurant in Castelvetro, where lunch was taken, was adorned with photographs: these included some showing Egidio Brandoli at work, and one, in particular, is with Sergio Scaglietti, his “maestro”.

The Dino meeting

After meeting up in the charming piazza Roma in Castelvetro, called by all the Modenese “Piazza della Scacchiera” (Chess square) for its characteristic paving in terracotta with a regular chessboard in the centre made of marble and stone, we left for Maranello and then towards the Tre Valli restaurant. It was a much shorter route than planned due to the endless rain.

Castelvetro is situated 18 km south of Modena, at an altitude of 150 metres, set on rolling hills cultivated with vines: it’s a wonderfully attractive landscape which reveals the authentic spirit of our Modena territory. Anyone happening to find themselves in our part of the world should certainly sooner or later make a trip to this small village which is one of the most beautiful in Italy.

We at Brandoli wish to say a heartfelt Thank-you to Club Dino Italia for having given us a wonderful day full of emotions in a festive atmosphere: it’s indelibly written in our special book of best memories!
