The Ferrari Elegance Award at Cavallino Classic Modena 2022
The Story
Let us introduce you to one of the rare right-hand drive Ferrari 275 GTBs, chassis number 07699, featuring the more powerful 6 carburettor engine and optional extra of Borrani wire wheels.
This F275 GTB 6C spent the first 53 years of its life in Italy, South Africa and England. In the August of 1965 the new vehicle was delivered to its first owner in South Africa. Eager to keep up with the latest trend, a few months later, the owner requested authorisation to remove the short nose and replace it with a long one, that had recently become available for 275s.
At Brandoli we restored the bodywork with all its authentic features, as well as selecting and coordinating the other top craftsmen from Modena and Bologna who were involved in the project. The project was assigned to us by Tom Hartey Jnr, a specialist in outstanding, classic and high-performance cars, known to his clients as “an exceptional individual, probably the most competent operator in Europe”. His instructions were extremely clear. Every detail had to be 100% authentic, just as it was in 1965 when the car left the Ferrari factory in Maranello.
Why shorten the nose of a Ferrari?
We worked tirelessly on the body, fixing any imperfections to ensure the car featured the same level of excellence as when it left the Ferrari factory in 1965. The most spectacular moment in the project was undoubtedly when we cut away the non-original long nose and restored the short nose originally specified by the manufacturer. Roberto Brandoli expertly cut away the curves that had been added later to return the car to its original design. You can relive the moment when we cut off the wrong nose in this video.

The Ferrari 275 6C chassis 07699, right-hand drive left the Carrozzeria Scaglietti factory in Modena in 1965 where EgidioBrandoli, who worked at the time in Sergio Scaglietti’s team, contributed to the construction of the original body. It was extremely satisfying for us to give this car a second life! On 30th July 2018, we handed this exceptional Ferrari 275 GTB 6C back to Tom Hartley Jnr, ready for the road. We still miss it!
