The concorso d'eleganza in the hometown of Enzo Ferrari: Modena
After a meticulous restoration here at Brandoli this Ferrari 500 Superfast #8459, right-hand drive, made its way to the prestigious Cavallino Classic Modena 2022 where it was voted “The Ferrari Elegance Award”.
Cavallino Classic 2022 returned for the second time to where it all began, the heart and hometown of Enzo Ferrari in the Motor Valley: Modena. A concorso d’eleganza at which the best auto collectors in the world present their freshly restored cars.
The Ferrari 500 Superfast was the last of the coachbuilt Ferrari coupés and was designed to satisfy their wealthiest and most discerning clientele. Only 36 examples were ever produced and of these a mere 8 were right-hand drive.
Chassis 8459 SF was sold new by Colonel Ronnie Hoare to Jack Durlacher, a highly successful London based stockbroker and also a sponsor of Rob Walker’s Formula 1 team. The car benefits from having very few owners from new and following Tom Hartley Jnr purchase in 2019, the car was sent to Brandoli for a total restoration, with the mechanics being entrusted to Bologna based Autofficina Sauro and the interior to Maieli.
The remit was to ensure it was the finest restored and most period correct 500 Superfast.
The entire team of artisans who restored the 500 Superfast offers huge congratulations to the owner and to Tom Hartley Jnr for such an outstanding achievement!
